I can go on with my story: how I missed their concert in ‘08 back when I was still a college student and couldn’t really afford to go to concerts. So what I did was stayed home that night and listened to their songs on my mp3 player instead. That’s when I realized I made the greatest mistake of not watching and made a promise with a friend that we will never miss their concert again. I graduated, got a job and now I can finally watch concerts. Each time there will be announcements that an artist/band that I like is coming to Manila, I’d get excited but still wish that it was Lifehouse instead; I know for sure I’d get more excited. I listen to their songs from old to the newest album all the same, I pretty much know Smoke and Mirrors songs by heart ever since Summer of 2011, in great hopes that they’d come soon. March 11, 2012 I was on the road I was listening to Lifehouse songs and thought I should tweet about it. Had to make sure I tagged the right twitter account — @lifehousemusic and saw their latest tweet “Philippines, we are coming!! May 26” — I almost screamed, almost cried. My favorite band finally coming to Manila. It’s fate. So if you ask me to simpler terms: Why Lifehouse? It’s because their songs always find a way to fit into every important moment of my life. I’d say when it comes to music, Lifehouse feels like home each time. The words I find hard to say, they’ve already sang it a million times. I’m 23 right now. And that’s more than 10 years of good, no. Great music.
“I’m closer to where I started. Chasing after you.”
[Tried to keep it short but I guess when it comes to something you love, there’s so much to say.]
Off to bed early,
As if there’s a pajama party;
Good night shirt tucked in
That goes for everyone who’s in.
Tomorrow, a long day awaits,
For me and my inn-mates.
See you again in the morning, Ilocos;
And I’m glad just ‘cause. :-)
It was about three years ago when I made a Twitter account, as only influenced by a handful of people who thought we should give it a try why not. I immediately abandoned it though because I couldn’t see the point of tweeting back then. Swear I could have spelled it as “twitting” that time. So it was boring, I only end up rereading my tweets and well, it was boring—natural phase1 when joining Twitter I guess. Late 2010, I signed back in to just post random rants because again, no one actually sees it. Or well, only a few will get to, unlike Facebook which is practically an IBP Issues Broadcast platform. (I just made that up right now actually.) Until I got used to checking my account, which was still @tin_aguilar or if not, @xtineaguilar back then.
Two years later
I, @digitines, am already on my 8888th tweet and I can’t believe I’m actually blogging about it! I’m not sure what Twitter did but it definitely did hit me right. I now have my own pausong hashtags such as #biglangLSS #awesometimes #morningstruggles as well as my little Project 365—#ThankyouToday which i religiously fulfill daily to inhabit not just the discipline of giving thanks but to actually notice the little/big things to be thankful about everyday.
Twitter and I
This microblogging social networking site had become my primary means of telling a story. Kickers and snippets of an hour, a day or even a week of my life. I get to talk to strangers, follow interesting topics, people and brands, even celebs thru it. It’s lovely the way I get to control the content I expose myself to. The only two downsides would be that airtime is limited to 140 characters with only up to 3 seconds to reign the top feeds slot and that typos are mega-rampant. Then again that’s what makes it fun, right? Click here, clink there. *wink
Thank you for this day
As I always say;
For everything I learned
And the things I’ve had.
May it be good earned
Or even if it were bad;
Stay and bear with me
As I go through it with thee;
Now I bid good night,
As I turn off the light.
